Also, there are a bunch of international students in my MFA program, mostly from different parts of Asia including Taiwan, China, Thailand, and Korea. One of my classmates from China even wanted to do a language exchange with me! I am helping him work on his English pronunciation, and he will teach me some basic Chinese phrases. I only have about 6 down so far, but he promises me that by the end of our 2-year program, I will be conversant in Chinese. I think it's a bit of a stretch, but even if I know just a few things, that would be awesome!

That's so cool, Paulina!!
ReplyDeleteHave fun with the languages....just remember how many languages PJPII spoke!!
Love you lots, Aunt Ro
That has actually been a long-standing aspiration of mine - to speak as many languages as the Pope...But fluency in 8 languages is hard to match! I have kind of a working knowledge of Spanish, have dabbled in French, Russian, Italian, Japanese, and now Chinese, but am by no means fluent in any foreign language (yet!)
