whether the weather be cold

i'm trying to be frugal with how much clothing i pack so there's room for other things, but i also want to be prepared for different types of weather. i've heard several complaints of how cold it is in SF. now, i understand that being by a bay makes a place windy, cold, and damp, but from the statistics i've read, it seems like SF doesn't get much colder that the mid-40s throughout the year. compared to the extreme highs and lows of the northeast, i think i will enjoy the temperate climate! perhaps some complaints come from people who go to SF with tank tops and booty shorts expecting 90 degree beach weather?

all this weather nonsense reminds me of a vocal warm-up from acting class that went something like this (see how fast you can say it!)

whether the weather be hot
whether the wea
ther be cold
whatever the weather, we'll be together
whether we're young or we're old.

whether the weather be cold ,
whether the weather be hot,
whether the weather be fair,
whether the weather be not.

we'll weather the weather,
whatever the weather,
whether we like it or not.

in any case, two things that will definitely make the cut are my rainboots and umbrella. all is need now is a warm rain jacket and i'll be ready for bayside weather!

these boots are made for walkin'...in the rain!

I'm glad I read this whole post and zeroed right in on the rain boots thing! Do you have rain boots now? Did you get them last year and I'm just forgetting? (Hard to believe, I know.) All I can remember are the many days we spent lamenting about the lack of rain boots in our lives!

  2. no, i finally got rainboots this summer! they are kinda similar the ones we saw on that girl on the train on the way to the Flyers game in that they're sort of fitted to my leg. i actually found them in a consignment shop in narberth for only $18! they didn't have much wear to them, just a little dirt on the bottom, so i snatched them up. also, there not neon or gaudy like so many rainboots i've seen. they're navy blue with a pear pattern.

  3. Well, they are lovely and pear-licious! A consignment shop in Narberth, huh? That may be the one that Moo frequents... she always seems to find high-end, gently used things too.

  4. oh, man. i thought i replied this comment earlier, because when i first saw it, i immediately wanted to congratulate you on your use of the phrase "gently used." now you have no choice but to be a librarian because that sounds exactly what they would say to advertise a book sale or drive. In fact, they DO!

"The Friends of the Monroeville Public Library are collecting gently used books, DVDs, CDs, games, craft and cooking magazines for their Annual Used Book Sale."

"Hancock Town Library Book Sale -- August 14-15. This year's sale offers over 12,000 new and gently-used books of all genres including an amazing assortment of hardcover and paperbacks from fiction to non-fiction with many bestselling titles."

"The Friends of Dublin Library are pleased to offer their Fall semi-annual used Book Sale...The sale includes gently used hardbacks and paperbacks, children's books, audio and video tapes, dvds, books on tape and music CDs. A selection of almost new specially priced items is available. The Friends also offer canvas tote bags for only $10."

I could go on, but i think you get the idea, oldie!
