sushi bar-none

despite my undying love for wegman's and how miffed i am that they do not exist on the west coast, i have to say that recently their sushi has failed to impress. wegman's sushi, in my experience, has always been top-notch, but the few times i indulged this summer, i found the rice to be dry and the fish not so tender.

so, i've been eager for some really killer sushi, and was delighted to hear people rave that san francisco had the best in the country. i've kept my eyes peeled since i arrived, but have not stumbled across any restaurants in my wanderings (although, i did find a few good mexican places).

but, today as i was walking along 17th street in potrero hill, i stopped mid-sentence while on the phone with my mom to exclaim "suuuussshhhhiiiiii baaarrrrrrr!!!!!!" (very much the way a child might point out an animal at the zoo, "mommmyyyy...eleeeephaaaannttt!!!")

needless to say, "LIVE Sushi Bar" (on the corner of 17th and Kansas) was where i chose to have lunch today. PHE-NOM-E-NAL!! basically, THE BEST sushi meal of my life! best of all, it was affordable. i chose one of the lunch specials, which came with 12 rolls, miso soup, salad, a large ball of rice, and an orange wedge - $9.50. it was so good that i downed it all in one sitting, but in the future (because obviously i'm going back), i would definitely take like half of it home.

best of all, it's about a 5 minute walk from campus!

  2. Wow, sometimes it amazes me how my girl has grown up to be delighted by raw fish! It brings back memories of the time when you were little and sat down to your favorite lunch, tuna chip. As you ate, you watched your gold fish swimming in the tank on the other side of the room. Then all of a sudden, you got really grossed out and stopped eating because you realized that what you were actually eating was tuna “fish”! You said that eating tuna salad was just like eating your goldfish. In fact, you wouldn’t eat fish at all for a very long time. I guess you've gotten over it! :)

    Hola Muchacha Paulina -

Just wondering, what is the significance of the title of your blog? I get the "bay" part, but for why you use "ginger?"

    BTW, LOVE your hair!
