Rainbow Grocery

Whenever I return to the apartment where I'm staying, I am greeted by a cheerful chorus of "Pa-la-leeeena"s coming from the upstairs loft. That's my landlady's three-year-old calling for my attention.

This evening, he insisted on helping me cook my dinner. So I brought out a block of firm tofu and let him chop it up with a butter knife before I pan-fried it with some teriyaki marinade. He also eagerly grabbed a piece of my seaweed salad and stuffed it in his mouth. It was very salty, so he quickly spit it out declaring, "I don't like that!" and since I clearly was making the salad wrong, he threw in a couple of his baby carrots to improve it.

Surprisingly though, he actually ate about half of the tofu I cooked. He also enjoyed the fresh vegetable chips that I got from the bulk section of the hip local vegetarian grocery store called, Rainbow Grocery Co-op. It has a massively wide selection of all types of healthy and delicious foods, which softens the blow of not having Wegman's at my fingertips. Fortunately, I had to limit myself to how much groceries I could carry, or I would have bought up half the store!
