probably my least favorite part of any trip or move is deciding what i'm actually going to need. like seinfeld's george constanza, i tend to overpack and struggle with planning my outfits in advance. let us revist that part of the episode "the trip part 1" shall we?
if left to my own devices, i probably would have packed several pairs of jeans and a dozen subtely different black shirts (in actuality, my wardrobe is quite varied, ranging from conservative to crazy, but there has been a not-so-inexplicable influx of black shirts. i can't help it, they're just so darn slimming). however, katie forced me to include some color in my suitcase, which is probably for the best, since i hear black is not so big in SF as other cities like NYC where it's more of a staple. with katie's help, i will now be prepared to dress in morning mist, cherry blossom, honey pie, or moonlit path, as the mood strikes me.
fortunately, katie came over this afternoon (equipped with many tips gleaned from What Not to Wear) in order to help me weed through my piles of clothes and choose the most versatile items. i really appreciated her eye towards practicality and brutal honesty (as i modeled one of my shirts, she remarked, "Not your best effort." of course, i was quick to remind her that she was there when i purchased said shirt).Jerry's apartment. George walks in with several stuffed suitcases and backpacks.
JERRY
What is this?
GEORGE
What?
JERRY
We're going on a two day trip, what are you, Diana Ross?
GEORGE
I happen to dress based on mood.
JERRY
Oh. But you essentially wear the same thing all the time.
GEORGE
Seemingly. Seemingly. But within that basic framework there are many subtle variations, only discernable to an acute observer, that reflect the many moods, the many shades, the many sides of George Costanza.
JERRY
(referring to George's outfit): And what mood is this?
GEORGE
This is morning mist.
